FACE Conference - Monster Award

Last weekend the FACE (Face Painting Association) Conference was held in Dawlish, Devon. The conference starts with the associations AGM and then involves the members in many demos, business seminars and competitions.

On the Friday evening after dinner we have a quiz and play face painting games and I also got to paint my friend and fellow entertainer, Dave Hickory. http://www.davehickory.co.uk/
Dave had spent most of the day creating a stunning Balloon Portcullis.

I was asked to do a demo on Clown's and Jesters - to keep with the weekends theme of the Medieval.

I came second in the Monster Competition which was sponsored by Dauphines of Bristol and received an engraved plate, a certificate and a voucher to go shopping! :)
Thanks for Sam from Charles Fox who was my lovely model!

On the Saturday evening we had a Medieval Gala with amazing entertainment and everyone in costume. Here I am in my Medieval Gown and I also painted Adrian from Snazaroo as an Evil Jester!

On Sunday we painted most of the children who came to the hotel for Mothers Day lunch. This young lady challenged me to paint a goth style face that matched her black, white and teal outfit so we settled for a skelebat design which she was really pleased with.

All in all a fantastic weekend with lots of new ideas shared!

Imagine my surprise this morning to discover that a picture I'd submitted for the Snazaroo Body Off competition (http://www.snazaroo.us/queen/bodyoff.htm ) at the end of 2008 has been posted on the competition page for voting! :)

The image is of an eagle with the American flag:

What an excellent start to the week!

Happy New Year!

I hope that you have all recovered from the fun and excesses of Christmas and the New Year! Now that the children are back at school and routine has returned in the Cats Whiskers office, it seems like it was a very long time ago!!

The Christmas designs are once again back in the seasonal file and we're looking forward to the weather warming up so that we can dust off the Spring and Easter face painting designs and balloon modelling creations for our customers.

We're planning a big training session for all of the Cats Whiskers team this coming weekend to develop some new and exciting designs for the new year. We hope you'll like them!

Sharon did amazingly well to get onto the Finalists page of the Snazaroo Halloween Free for All http://www.snazaroo.us/08/8halloween5.htm back in December and was pipped to the prizes by some stunning work! We're still very proud of her.

We look forward to seeing you all again in 2009!

Competition updates

The UK Face and Body Painting convention is now over and we've all just about recovered!!

These are some of my face painting and body painting entries to the Americana themed competitions. Unfortunately none of them won but I'm proud of them anyway!

We've also had the results from the Snazaroo Summer Free for All for face & body art. Sharon and I received Honourable Mentions - which was brilliant considering the talent of the people we were up against. To be honest I was just really pleased to make it into the Finalists!

Pictures from the weekend

Last weekend was fun filled with a store launch and several private parties to attend.

This was a really fun Spider Girl adaptation for a little girl who wanted a little something around the eyes but nothing too girlie!! A great challenge - well met by Sharon.

Still no news about the final voting for the Summer Free for All, but Sharon, Nina and Helen have been working hard to create new and exciting designs for Face and Body Painting for the UK Face & Body Painting Convention Postal Competitions. The theme is Americana - which has proven to be an interesting challenge for our creativity!!

We've been doing quite a bit of Body Painting work recently and tomorrow Helen will be Body Painting for a promotional photo shoot on behalf of Cancer Research UK - for the launch of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Photo's will be coming soon...
