Balloon Modelling Workshops
During December we have had a blast visiting various WI Groups and introducing them to the fun of Balloon Modelling! The ladies have all been very game for a laugh and have done very well grasping the basics of balloon twisting to create wands, flowers and the obligatory balloon dog!

These photos are from Abbots Leigh WI and their president, Val Baker said, "I would be grateful if you could pass our thanks onto Helen Eyre for starting off our Christmas meeting with such hilarity. It was a great success."For information about our balloon modelling workshops, please get in touch.
Best wishes

Pictures from a Summer Holiday Workshop

I've been looking back through some of the images from the Summer and came across these from a Summer Camp where we ran a theatrical makeup workshop for a week. It covered amongst other things - face painting, aging, wounds & special effects. The pictures made me chuckle so I thought I'd share. I particularly love the old ladies in their wigs!
All the best,
Helen

FACE Conference - Monster Award
Last weekend the FACE (Face Painting Association) Conference was held in Dawlish, Devon. The conference starts with the associations AGM and then involves the members in many demos, business seminars and competitions.
On the Friday evening after dinner we have a quiz and play face painting games and I also got to paint my friend and fellow entertainer, Dave Hickory. http://www.davehickory.co.uk/
Dave had spent most of the day creating a stunning Balloon Portcullis.

I was asked to do a demo on Clown's and Jesters - to keep with the weekends theme of the Medieval.

I came second in the Monster Competition which was sponsored by Dauphines of Bristol and received an engraved plate, a certificate and a voucher to go shopping! :)
Thanks for Sam from Charles Fox who was my lovely model!
On the Saturday evening we had a Medieval Gala with amazing entertainment and everyone in costume. Here I am in my Medieval Gown and I also painted Adrian from Snazaroo as an Evil Jester!

On Sunday we painted most of the children who came to the hotel for Mothers Day lunch. This young lady challenged me to paint a goth style face that matched her black, white and teal outfit so we settled for a skelebat design which she was really pleased with.

All in all a fantastic weekend with lots of new ideas shared!

Testing, testing!
As those of you who know me are painfully aware - I love my iPhone - and this is just a little test to see how well I can update this blog from my phone. :)
Here is a picture of some henna that I did for a friend:

And here's the bruised and battered Tori who bravely assists me when Cats Whiskers do wounds workshops for the Merlin Theatre in Frome!!

If this works I'll have no excuses about updating the blog! Lol!!

So much fun, so little time!
A big thank you to everyone who booked us during the summer! The Cats Whiskers team have had SO much fun!! :) We've been to parties, festivals, summer camps, fun days and open days all over the area in Bristol, Bath and the South West. So, my apologies for taking so long to update the blog - but there has just been way too much fun going on for me to catch up until now.
So, the children are back at school, the tree's are turning colour, nights are drawing in and we're really looking forward to Halloween!!
But before we get carried away with the witches and vampires, here are some of the highlights of the summer:

Pictures from our Summer adventures

We're fully into the swing of events and fun days at the moment! It's very busy and loads of fun. :) Here are some pictures from our events.
We also had a lovely Thank You note from one of our clients: "Face Painting is one of the top tens of school children and no matter what idea they come up with, you make them look, and feel as special and unique as all children should feel. Thank you." ~Brockeridge Infant School PTA & all the children.
Other comments from Clients: "Nina was great with the children and our adult guests! She was patient, friendly, professional and really skilled. Almost everyone comment on her super work, and Rob and I would like to thank her for helping to make our wedding reception so memorable." ~Mr & Mrs Taylor.
"Thank you. Helen was friendly, well prepared, great with the children & all of them enjoyed themselves." ~ Stagecoach, Trowbridge - Wounds workshop.
Keep enjoying the Summer sun! Hopefully we'll see you at an event soon. :)

Too busy to write at the moment...

"Everyone was impressed and amazed by the quality of the work. Very impressive and one of our guests exclaimed it was the "best party ever" after being turned into Spiderman!" Mrs Rawle.

A promotion in Bristol City Centre
Pants in the Park event at Ashton Court.

This is my favourite picture!! We did a balloon modelling workshop for our friends at Frampton Cotterell WI and they loved it! Much amusement. :)
"Firstly thank you so much for the course last Monday, Not only did I learn a lot about face painting I picked up many other tips of the trade as well, Please give Tracey my love !!!!!!. you will be glad to know that I had a party for 12 girls this weekend and manage to beautifully paint them in about 15mins. Butterfly brush was a godsend.
Well thank you once again and I am sure I will be in touch very soon for an upgrade in my face painting repertoire.
Much love to you both

Too busy face painting to take photos!!
We have had a fabulous couple of weeks working hard to entertain people and assist in promotions with face painting, balloon modelling, temporary tattoos, workshops and henna. So busy in fact that we've not been able to take many photographs to show you!
We have entertained at birthday parties with face painting, balloon modelling and even a casualty and wounds workshop!
We have face painted at promotional events for Clevedon Children's Centre, Tescos Metro Staple Hill and in Villa Park for the Aston Villa versus Hull match! The Villa Park football event was incredibly busy but really amazing fun!
We have partied with the students at the May Ball creating delicate eye masks for the girls and obviously painting one or two spidermen and tigers for the boys. ;)
We've undertaken a private Henna booking and private training workshops.
And we've had a slightly more cultural moment face painting at Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
Here are the three pictures the team have managed to take that were in focus! LOL!

Face Painting Workshops and staff face painting training night
We had great fun joining the children at the holiday club in Pill for a Face Painting Workshop. The primary aged chilrden were given masks to paint and shown how to apply paint using a sponge and brush. There were a range of step by step designs as well as a sheet of tribal designs from around the world which they could adapt or copy to create their own unique designs. Here are some of the face painting designs they came up with:

We also had a Cats Whiskers staff face painting training night recently and tried out a few new face painting design ideas. Michelle had a web butterfly mask type design painted on her, Sarah was a tribally vampire and Jo had a dragon mask.

Face painting - more pictures!
Where has this week gone!?? It seems to have flown by!!

As you can see we've been busy! The face paint designs are by Jo and Helen from events at the weekend and the painting skulls were part of our group workshop held on Sunday.
Today is the last day of voting for the Summer Free for All competition - but as it's the UK Face and Body Art Convention tomorrow, I guess that the results won't be announced until next week now! Never mind. I'm REALLY looking forward to the convention - as are Jo, Sharon and Nina from the Cats Whiskers team who will be joining me there!!
This weekend we also have a team face painting and balloon modelling at the launch of the Chelsea Building Society branch in Bristol. Go along and say 'Hi' if you are in the area.
